We knew that we wanted to install a wood-burning stove in the dining room. We asked a number of suppliers, who came and looked and said: “Not possible”. The chimney stack had to be at least 15cm wide for the flue. Ours was not.

Luckily, we had to redo the roof – so Mark demolished the chimney in the attic and rebuilt it, allowing us to install a wood burner. With no regrets. Or may be one… 

The House originally had 4 chimney stacks. Those at the rear had already been topped-off and removed. Only one of the two at the front remained usable. The one in the living room was however sealed. We should have opened it up for a wood burner in the living room as well, or at least had the chimney stack rebuilt ready.

Never mind!
