Like everything these days, we only use 10% of what the machine is capable of. The washing machine at Magnolia is no different. For example, it can be connected to the internet and controlled from an App on a smart phone. Well, being a tech, I of course was interested, but quite honestly, it is not needed and well, I could not really get it to work anyway.
What it does have however, is the ability to “Auto Dose” the detergent and the softener. i.e. it is possible to put entire bottles in and the machine will detect how much to add. Needless to say, we don’t use this. However, it is important to know this, as we will see later.
In the meantime, the complete English manual can be found at the end of this page, which may not help, given the machine is in French.
As always, when you are finished, to prevent mould – especially if the house if left empty for a few weeks – please leave the tray and the door open.
1) Adding Detergent and Softener
Pull out the tray. If you use powder, it is necessary to remove the inserts. This is the case with both powdered detergent and powdered softener. If you use liquid, then you leave the inserts in place.
Of course, typically we use powdered detergent and liquid softener.
Both Liquid
In this case, the detergent is liquid and the softener is liquid. So both inserts are required.
Powder Detergent, Liquid Softener
This is the common situation where the detergent is powdered, yet the softener is liquid.
So, only the insert for the softener is required.
2) Checking AutoDose
As mentioned, the washing machine at Magnolia, has an AutoDose feature. This would be very handy if we lived here permanently, but we dont. So we do not use it. When the machine is switched on, the autodose should be off. However, for some reason it may be on. In which case, we need to switch it off. This is done for both detergent and softener.
Here we see the washing machine wanting to AutoDose for both detergent and softener. We need to turn them off. Just touch the display as shown.
AutoDose should be “off” for both detergent and softener.
3) Altering the Temperature and Spin Speed
Amazing, not only can we control everything via an App on our Smartphone (when setup) and it AutoDoses, but we can still change the temperature and the spin speed

Please leave the tray and door slighly open so that mould does not grow whilst the house is empty for longer periods.
