Recycling and Bin Collection

This creates a lot of confusion for people. Recycling in every country, county and commune (in France) is different.

Here, in the Commune of Eynesse, our recycling is through the company USTOM.

For vistors to the house there are basically two things for you to care about:

1) What waste goes where?

2) When does it get collected?

There are other things of course, like all the greenery from the garden, or batteries and lightbulbs etc, but for now, we focus just on the two points above.

1) What Waste Goes Where?

There are three main groups:

“Dry Waste” – > Yellow Bin
Paper
Cardboard
Clean Plastic
Clean plastic bottles, including plastic milk bottles. Crush them to save space.
Clean tins / cans
Small metal objects
“Wet Waste” -> Green Bin
Food leftovers
Dirty Food packaging e.g. for meat, fish, butter
Dirty kitchen paper
Coffee capsules (although these can go into the yellow)

Please keep the lid on this bin… otherwise you may find unwanted guests in there (mice…)

Glass
Wine & Beer bottles
Broken glasses

When the blue boxes are full, take them to one of the glass collection points in Eynesse.

Other items such as batteries and light bulbs are recycled at L’Eclerc.

2) When does it get Collected?

Bascially every two weeks, early Friday morning. So we just put the bins out on Thursday evening.

Please check the fridge for the dates, or this link.

This is where the bins are placed on Thursday evening.
