Wine Tasting & Vineyards

We are no experts. It is highly likely that you know more than us. What we do know however, is that there are plenty of options here and amazingly you can buy a very reasonable bottle for 7-9€.

Also do remember that you do not need to buy 6-12 bottles based on a sip out of a glass.

Anyway, here are a few places that you may wish to consider, one is literally 200m away, run by Christoph and Isabel.

Another favourite is Carbonneau, and if you fancy something really grand, then there is Chateau Monbazillac for sweet white wines as well as the rather well-to-do wineries around St Emilion and the sweet wine mecca of the Sauterne.

It is probably always best to arrange a tasting in advance, at least check the website, if there is one.

Run by Wilfred & Jacqui who are happy to do tastings and also have a lovely tea-room. In the meantime we’ve slowly go to know members of their family!

Château Lamothe Mandrone

A very local wine producer. Hosts parties for 200+ guests 3-4 times a year during the summer. Christoph & Isabel are very popular hosts. It is literally 200m towards Eynesse, on the right.

Château Martet

Definitely have to phone ahead. The wine is apparently a secret favourite of President Macron. Tried to book a tasting a few times, but could not manage.
