Here is a list of ideas, and links for more information.
Kayak
A great favourite! 2 hour trip from Pessac sur Dordogne. You can reserve here, on their website. By the way, they also rent bikes and eBikes and will deliver them 🙂
Night Markets
One top-tip is to look out for so-called “Night Markets”. Basically a local chateau will host a number of local food producers in the evening, throw in a local band and sell their wine “en vrac” to the guests. They are usually nice evenings, the food is usually great. The challenge: Finding out where and when they are! This link can help.
Gardens
There are several gardens in the area, the closest being the Gardens at Sardy. Others include the Gardens at St-Avit. For a more extensive list, here are two links:
Swimming
You can jump into the Dordogne, just be careful of the current. In St Foy there is a little beach too. Between Flaujacques and Castillion, there is a lake, Lac de la Cadie, that is also open for water sports. Check opening times on their facebook.
Fishing
Fishing with Guides, although some guides are further up the Dordogne valley, requiring an early start. The local shop in St Foy will sell licences.
Short Flights
Contact the aeronautical club of St Foy. They offer short flights. I also think they offer glider trips and even parachuting, but that would need further investigation.
Antiques / Brocantes
There are plenty of antique stores scattered across the area. They are worth exploring.
Other Ideas
There are a number of other things that people may want to visit, including… the following but you may have to do some research.
- Mosaics at Montcaret
- Go-karting in Bergerac
- Canoeing (as an alterative to kayaking)
- Aquarium (needs investigating)
- Horse riding
- Horse & Carriage ride through wineyards at Chateau Picon
- Chivalry & Falconry show at Duras Castle.
