Petrol Stations

There are a number of petrol stations in St Foy le Grande.

If you are returning a car to Bordeaux airport, we also have a top tip for you.

St Foy la Grande

E.Leclerc Petrol Station (at the entrance to the large super market).

Intermarche, Port de St Foy, just as you cross the river.

E.Leclerc Brico / Garden Centre on the otherside of the river, Port de St Foy, when driving towards Saint-Antoine-de-Breuihl.

Total Energies, when leaving St Foy towards Bergerac.

Pessac sur Dordogne

Avia, in the centre of the village.

Hire-Car Return – Where to Fill Up

Over the years, we have found that this is generally the best way:

As you approach the ring road of Bordeaux, watch for signs that indicate the time to the airport. This will be either “Interne”, meaning clockwise or “Externe”, meaning anti-clockwise. We have found that the anti-clockwise route is generally best. This will take you over the huge bridge, the “Pont Atlantique”. Once over the bridge, you will pass two petrol stations. We usually take the first, which is an ESSO station, fill up and also take a visit to restrooms, to stop the sudden need when arriving at the airport.

Just once, the “Pont Atlantique” was closed, this will also be well sign posted. In this case, you will have to go south, “Interne”, clockwise. The traffic is usually more intense as you will join the flow from Paris to Spain, including all the lorries.
