Temperature and Humidity Sensors

To help maintain the correct temperature in the house, especially when it is unoccupied for example in Winter, but also to help detect when there is an issue with the heater, we have four sensors in the house. This is necessary because the boiler is old and not connected to the internet.

The sensors constantly measure the temperature and humidity. Humidity is of course, a major challenge in this area of France. If unheated, in winter, as the temperature drops, the humidity inside the house can reach 75% plus. This is idea for mold and mildew. If temperature is maintained at 14-15 degC then the humidity remains about 50-55% and keeps mold under control.

Interestingly the humidity drops 5% with each floor, so the attic can be 50% but the ground floor 60%.

Anyway, there are four sensors, all feeding into the Wifi Gateway. This in turn, uploads the data to a central cloud database. Via an App on an iPhone the data can be viewed.

  2. Dining Room
  3. Front hall, 1st floor
  4. In the attic
