How to use the Dishwasher

It is very much up to you, which programme you use. Option 2 is a good clean whereas 5 is quick, enough for basic cleaning.

There are three things to look out for:

  1. When switching on, it often shows 3 hours. Just ignore it.
  2. Sometimes it is not finished. Just wait until the “End” light comes on.
  3. We do use salt and rinsing aid liquid. Both are under the sink or in the cupboard opposite the washing machine. The dishwasher will tell you if it needs one or both. Believe me, watch out for this.

Occasionally please rinse the filter.

To prevent mould – especially if the house if left empty for a few weeks – do not close the door completely.

1) Switching On – Selecting the Program

Simply close the door, switch on, select the program and start. If you want, you can set the machine to complete in 3, 6 or 9 hours, i.e. to delay the start. You can also tell the machine that the load has pans and needs an intense wash. Personally, I don’t bother with these options.

Then wait for “End” to be lit.

2) Salt & Rinsing Aid

At Magnolia, we need to add salt and rinsing aid. The machine will tell you when it needs more. The images below show you were to check and fill. You will also know that you need rinsing aid, because any glasses will be milky, plates will feel gritty and knives and forks will look “cloudy”. Pans will look milky too. You then need to clean by hand… you have been warned. Any no, just washing them again, will not do it.

To check for the salt, just stick your finger in. You should feel some. If not, add salt until it comes to the top – it will take quite a lot – sometimes the entire box.

3) Check the Filter

Every so often, check the filter for food. Just rinse under the tap.

Remember

Please leave the door slighly open so that mould does not grow whilst the house is empty for longer periods.
