Transport & Mobility

Although in the countryside, there are quite a few options for getting around.

By Car

Obviously the easiest. A few things to consider.

Make sure you have registered your car for emissions, especially if driving through or around Bordeaux.

Car-hire is available at Bordeaux and Bergerac airports. You can also hire cars are Bordeaux’s St-Jean train station and at Libourne train station.

A relatively new option is to hire a car from L’Eclerc, for fabulously cheap prices, you just have to get there.

For petrol stations near to Magnolia, see this separate page.

By Bike

We have a number of bikes at Magnolia, see this page.

The tourist office in St Foy le Grande also rents eBikes. See this page for more details.

By Train

There is a reasonable train service from St Foy Le Grande to Bordeaux, taking just over an hour, one train every two hours.

The top-tip is to take the train to Sarlat, takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes, one train every two hours.

Use the SNCF Connect website/App to check times, buy tickets etc.

By Taxi

There are a few taxis in St Foy le Grande, there is also a lady in Gensac that provides a taxi service to Bergerac airport for about €60. Her name is Sophie, she speaks English and her number is +33 6 07 90 67 99.

By Plane

The two closest airports are Bergerac (35 mins) with plenty of flights to the UK especially in spring through to autumn and then Bordeaux (1 hr 15 mins), with more international flights.
